“Dancing The Smalles Things: A Creative Gathering”
October 1-15, 2025
Through opening our senses, can we fall in love with the smallest of things?
Overview
“Dancing The Smallest Things: A Creative Gathering” is a 2-week gathering in Hoi An, Vietnam, exploring arts and improvisation in a close-knit community. Over 2 weeks, we will co-create in an artist studio by the Thu Bon river, deepening our connection to each other and to the natural surroundings.
If you are looking for a quiet, focused space to unfold creatively and compassionately, integrating improvisation, sound and movement into your everyday life, this creative residency is for you. Our program includes anchoring group practices as well as an environment for collaboration in independent creative explorations.

Why dancing with the smallest things?
Size is relative. In saying “dancing the smallest of things”, we refer to the gentle and kinder approach to our art and life.
Mahatma Gandhi said: “in gentle ways, you can shake the world”. We believe positive change can ripple from the small act of kindness and care. To start from where we are, doing what we love with who we care about, is the antidote to social anxiety, frustration and separation.
We believe inspiration comes from everyday life, from a delightful conversation over dinner or the vegetables growing in the garden. Can we open our sense to receive them?
Small, because we will be a group of 12-15 people, dancing and making arts in a humble venue overlooking the vast Thu Bon river. Our three studios are 50-65 sqm each – which call for creative ways to be together.
Small, so that we can gently observe and adapt and move with ease. So that we could take off the heavy jacket of being something bigger and more important. And instead touch this skin of who we are.
A Creative Harbour
The studio is nested within a rural, quiet harbour where boats come to rest. Calm water welcomes each sunrise and sunset. Can our co-creation come from a place of safety and restfulness?

Giving And Receiving Support
Knowing that how we relate has a rippling effect to the larger whole, how can we extend our
energy generously and effortlessly?
Can we open ourselves to receive the infinite support present in our environment?
How might the change in the world start from within us?
From the soil and water to edible wild plants growing in the garden, from the delightful conversation shared over dinner to the co-creation of a performance… possibilities are endless when we are open to giving and receiving them.
Start small with “What is the gift I am happy to give?” and you might be surprised by where it will take you.
Connecting With The Local Landscapes
Our inner and outer landscapes are beautifully interconnected. Can we cultivate sensitivity, opening to the intelligence and wisdom of nature?
We drop into this process through internal somatic practices, as well as stepping out, taking time to feel the textures of Hoi An.
Opening our senses, can we fall in love with the smallest of things?

Somatic movement. Music improvisation. Dance. Collective drawing. Pottery. Weaving. Local arts and crafts. and more
